OPENING SASKIA NOOR VAN IMHOFF: #+23.00
Director Beatrix Ruf will give an opening speech for the newest presentation by Saskia Noor van Imhoff. The exhibition, #+23.00, is part of a series of dynamic solo exhibitions by a promising generation of artists. Many of these are new productions and/or recent acquisitions by the museum. By committing to a long-term relationship with young talent, the museum provides a platform for its future collection.
TALK LEONTINE COELEWIJ
Leontine Coelewij is curator at the Stedelijk Museum and curated the exhibition Saskia Noor van Imhoff: #+23:00. She collaborated closely with van Imhoff in preparation and will briefly introduce her work and the presentation.
In 2015 the Stedelijk purchased the spatial artwork #+14.11 (2013) by Saskia Noor van Imhoff. For the inaugural presentation of this work at the Stedelijk, the artist created an installation that engages in a conversation with the museum collection and with the architecture of the gallery spaces. Van Imhoff combines artworks from the depot, replicas, and everyday objects in her work, juxtaposing them without any kind of hierarchy. Conservation, research, and classification methods become integrated elements of her installation.
COLUMN BY LEX TER BRAAK
Lex ter Braak is a writer and critic, and director of the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. This post-graduate art institution is known as a major research and residency space for young artists from within and outside the Netherlands. Ter Braak has followed the work of Van Imhoff for some time, and will briefly discuss her work in the context of her generation.
SPEED TOURS MUSEUM COLLECTION
Every Friday evening our youngest peer-educators, called the Blikopeners, provide speed tours through the museum. View the collection of the Stedelijk Museum and the exhibitions through the eyes of a Blikopener and talk to them about their favorite artworks. The tours start at 8 and 9 pm. They are in Dutch.
