More information about The Otolith Group:

The Otolith Group is an award winning artist-led collective and organization founded by Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun in 2002. They integrate film and video making, writing, workshops, exhibition curation, and publication, and develop public platforms for the close readings of experiments in image and sound. The Group’s work is developed according to a shifting series of long-term research-based projects exploring the legacies and potentialities of proposals broadly informed by contemporary architecture, The Bandung Conference, speculative futures, Tricontinentalism, Cybernetics, and Science-Fictions.

Nationally and internationally, the Group has been commissioned to produce moving image works, installations, and publications. These works act to support a structure that allows for wider research into aural and visual cultures. They have organized workshops and discussions, and curated and co-curated programs and exhibitions, including the touring exhibition The Ghosts of Songs: A Retrospective of The Black Audio Film Collective 1982-1998; Harun Farocki, 22 Films: 1968-2009 at Tate Modern; and the touring program Protest, conceived as part of Essentials: The Secret Masterpieces of Cinema, commissioned by the Independent Cinema Office. In 2010, The Otolith Group was nominated for the Turner Prize.

In 2013, The Otolith Group will be presenting their work on several platforms internationally, and in the UK they will curate the first exhibition on the work of the theorist and sound artist Mark Fisher, in collaboration with The Showroom in London.

More information about The Radiant:

The Radiant explores the aftermath of March 11, 2011, when the Great Tohoku Earthquake struck the northeast coast of Japan at 2:46 pm, triggering a tsunami that killed tens of thousands and causing the partial meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. In the fissures opened by these catastrophes, The Radiant travels through time and space, invoking the historical promise of nuclear energy and summoning the future threat of radiation that converge upon the benighted present. Under these conditions, the illuminated cities and evacuated villages of Japan can be understood as a laboratory for the global nuclear regime that exposes its citizens to the necropolitics of radiation.
