The Stedelijk Museum is delighted to present this Gallery Talk of art historian Gregor Stemmrich to accompany the exhibition Lawrence Weiner: Written on the Wind. During this afternoon Stemmrich, renowned expert in the field of contemporary art and particularly the work of Weiner, will give a guided tour about the exhibition.

Gregor Stemmrich studied art (Art Academy Düsseldorf; Class of Gerhard Richter), art history and philosophy (at the Universities of Bochum and Essen). He is professor of art history of the 20th and 21st centuries at the Freie Universität in Berlin. Recent projects are concerned with the development of transcultural perspectives in art and art history. His publications include: Minimal Art. Eine kritische Retrospektive (ed. 1995), Jeff Wall. Szenarien im Bildraum der Wirklichkeit (ed. 1997), Kunst/Kino. Jahresring 48 / Jahrbuch für moderne Kunst (ed. 2001), Having been said – Writings and Interviews of Lawrence Weiner 1968-2003 (ed. with Gerti Fietzek 2004), Dan Graham (2008) and Robert Morris HEARING – Listening to HEARING (2012). He also contributed to the exhibition catalogue of Lawrence Weiner: Written on the Wind
