The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is pleased to invite you to a special series of Gallery Talks, as part of the cultural program for Amsterdam Gay Pride 2015 (AGP 2015).

In honor of Amsterdam Gay Pride’s 20th anniversary, the Stedelijk Museum has invited two speakers to share their unique perspective on the collection, from an LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning and Intersex) related viewpoint.

During the Gallery Talks, Stacey Moran Nocek (University of Washington) and artist Christian Friedrich will guide you through their selections of artworks from the museum’s collection. Both will offer personal insights and interpretations, and discuss their selection with particular emphasis on queer, feminist and gender studies and/or LGBTQI-related angles.

Join us during Pride Week and experience the Stedelijk collection from the unique perspective of these two speakers!

More information about the speaker

Stacey Moran Nocek (US) has been Lecturer for the Comparative History of Ideas Program at the University of Washington since 2006. Located at the intersections of feminism, gender studies, literary theory, classical mythology, poetry, and continental philosophy, her research develops a materialist approach to feminist poetics. Stacey is involved in material-feminist communities in the US and Europe, which are heavily intertwined in her own creative practice. Stacey has also been working in the fashion industry for over a decade. She is currently developing an installation that investigates the relations between modern techno-science, mythology, and magic.
