The Living Room(s) and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam present Synch(s) and Shred(s): the collection.
Synch(s) and shred(s): the collection is an evening of performances comprised of five short acts which explore and extend the notions of reinterpretation, re-enactment, and lip-synching in relation to selected video works from the collection of the Stedelijk Museum. The selected video works, some of which are already canonical in the history of contemporary art, all deal with a singular action of the artist. Moreover, they question the relation between artist, viewer, and the roll of technology as mediator between the two. Accordingly, the performing artists invited to participate in this evening will perform a singular act in reaction to the videos, reinterpreting the complex relationships between performance, audience, and technology.
