Workshops — Mar 11, 2016

For years, The Stedelijk Museum has organized artists’ workshops for children, leaving the adults jealously behind. That changes with the Stedelijk’s Friday Night programming: once a month, visitors will have the opportunity to work directly with artists and learn about their work by doing it for themselves.

Audi Gallery 0.1

Please make a reservation. Send an email to education@stedelijk.nl with your name, phone number and name and date of the event

This month: Perform with Ton Meijer. Inspired by the Stedelijk Museum collection, Meijer introduced the performing arts to young children earlier in our program. Now it’s time for the adults to play. In search of the stories behind the paintings, sculptures and installations in the museum, he will assume the role of director while teaching participants how to act. It will soon become clear that no theater experience is needed.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ton Meijer is an actor who performs at a wide variety of locations, from the Royal Theatre in The Hague to an elementary school in Suriname. But Meijer also has a penchant for the visual arts and questions this form of art from his own background: How would artworks move if they could? And if artworks could talk, what would they talk about? Guess it, play it.
