The World of Felix de Rooy

Just as summer holidays begin, the Stedelijk is offering a very special edition of this year's Summer School! This year, we will dive into the world of visionary and multi-talented artist Felix de Rooy together. From 22 April, his exhibition Apocalypse will be on display at the Stedelijk. De Rooy is an interdisciplinary maker and artist. He is seen by many creators as an 'O.G.', an Original Gangster, because of his experimental work as an artist as well as his pioneering role as an 'artist-curator' of colour. Far ahead of his time, De Rooy explored topics that remain relevant today, such as the continuing negative legacy of colonialism, everyday racism and the meaning of Afro-Caribbean and queer identities in art.
