The Stedelijk Museum celebrates International Women's Day together with Mama Cash. The Feminist Festival is filled with a diverse program of lectures, guided tours, workshops and music.

Stedelijk BASE covers the entire new wing of the museum and shows a selection of almost 700 works, grouped around historical movements, social themes and influential artists. One of the underlying themes is the influence of female artists.

Charley Toorop, for example, held an important position within the Dutch art world, which was mainly dominated by male artists. Toorop’s Working-Class Woman from 1943 is one of the eye-catchers of Stedelijk BASE. In the background, we see the ruins of Rotterdam after the bombing in 1940.
