Neil van der Linden is curator and passioned professional in culture exchange with a.o. the Middle-East. He will guide you through the exhibition Walid Raad, Let’s be honest the weather helped on 3 July and talk about his experiences with the artists’ work.

Walid Raad, Let’s be honest the weather helped is the first solo exhibition by the Lebanese-American artist Walid Raad in the Netherlands. In seven galleries Raad presents his philosophical, politically charged, and often witty vision of the complexities of the Lebanese Civil War and developments in contemporary art in the Middle East.


Neil van der Linden graduated in medicine and law. He curates music, theatre and visual arts projects related to the Middle-East and North-Africa, in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Morocco, the Gulf states, Pakistan, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. He was dramaturg at the Rotterdam Municipal Theatre Company and the Holland Festival. Van der Linden worked and works as music advisor and events developer with Paradiso Amsterdam, the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Beiteddine Festival Lebanon, the Festival of World Sacred Music in Fes, the Abu Dhabi Sounds of Arabia Festival, the Hong Kong Municipality Festival, the Mugam festival Baku, the Brownbook Dubai, the Abu Dhabi Book Fair, the Third Line gallery Dubai, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and the Fadrj Music and Fadjr Theatre Festival in Tehran.

He founded and co-edits the online Gulf Art Guide and the Gulf Art Guide Facebook page.
