WorldPride 2026 will be celebrated in July and August. The Stedelijk joins the celebrations with a tour featuring work by queer makers and queer perspectives in the collection: the Queer Gaze Tour. This audio tour is for Pride visitors and anyone who wants to look beyond the standard view.

The Queer Gaze Tour explores how queerness becomes visible in the work of different makers. What makes a work queer? When and how does it deviate from the cisgender and heterosexual norm that is often seen as self-evident? In the tour, queer is approached as a reclaimed and activist term. Some works relate explicitly to this political charge, while others engage more subtly with identity, desire and ambiguity. In doing so, the tour opens up space for different ways of looking, reading and experiencing. The tour also asks what role a maker’s queerness plays in the creation of a work. Which works engage with queerness? And which can be read as an invitation to a queer way of looking? The Queer Gaze Tour is for everyone, with a particularly warm welcome for all visitors to WorldPride 2026.
