Exhibition — Sep 28 until Oct 27, 2018

A presentation of the best designed books of 2017, ranging from projects by well-known publishers to museum catalogues, anniversary publications and rare, privately-published books.

The annual exhibition of the 33 Best Dutch Book Designs is now on view at the Stedelijk. Visitors have the possibility to hold the books in their hands. It is one of the most beloved features of this exhibition.

A panel of professional judges made a selection out of the 342 submissions. 33 books distinguished themselves conspicuously by their editorial choices, graphic design, treatment of images and text, choice of material and technical workmanship.

The panel consists this year of designers Yolanda Huntelaar and Michaël Snitker, Freek Kuin (creative director Robstolk printers), Marije Sietsma (CEO Publisher Loopvis) and Suzanne Bogman (Head of Publications Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam).

The catalogue is designed by Rob van Hoesel with the assistence of Carel Fransen. A special feature are the page tabs. Every single book has its own section. It makes this catalogue into a reference book with easy acces to the information of the 33 books.
