Exhibition — Opens summer 2022

The third and final part of the new collection presentation showcases some of the ways in which artists and designers both reacted to and represented the period 1860-1945, when industrialisation, colonialism, two world wars and a tempestuous interbellum era wrought havoc.

The presentation spotlights the vital role of female creatives, and the history of the museum as institution. Less familiar works are shown alongside famous pieces in the collection, and new stories are told.
