2015 was a year to look back on with enormous satisfaction.

A year in which experimentation returned to the Stedelijk, with a young Ed Atkins who filled the vast lower gallery with his unsettling avatars, and Tino Sehgal who created new, dynamic situations in the museum each month.

With gifts of work by Andy Warhol, Karel Appel, and the designs of Ineke Hans.

With a survey of one of art’s modern masters: The Oasis of Matisse. Attracting 360,000 visitors, it was the most popular exhibition in the history of the Stedelijk, and ranked a fantastic 8 by visitors.

With a retrospective of Isa Genzken, a modern icon, which critics and the media greeted with rave reviews.

With almost 40,000 school pupils who visited the Stedelijk and tour guides who gave around 25,000 tours.

In total, we welcomed 720,000 visitors to the museum in 2015, over 90% of which said they are planning to visit again.

In addition to that, the museum now has 150,000 followers on Twitter – a number that grew exponentially in 2015.

That’s a score to be proud of.

But numbers don’t say everything – it’s about the experiences we offer our visitors.

Therefore we captures all these experiences in a little film compilation.

2015 was a fantastic year – we can’t wait for 2016!
