Amsterdam – 13 February 2018. Rabobank Amsterdam – the main sponsor of the Stedelijk Museum since 2011 – today announced the continuation of its sponsorship contract with the museum. The new three-year contract will be valid until 2020, when the museum celebrates its 125th anniversary. Alphons Kurstjens (chairman of the board, Rabobank Amsterdam): “We are delighted to extend our partnership with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, one of Amsterdam iconic cultural institutions. With leading cultural landmarks like the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam is a dynamic place to live, and a vibrant urban hub for companies and their staff.” Jan Willem Siebergh (acting director, Stedelijk Museum): “We are immensely proud and grateful that Rabobank Amsterdam will continue to support the Stedelijk Museum. The support of Rabobank Amsterdam helps fulfil the Stedelijk’s vision of being a museum for everyone. Like the Rabo Lab, for instance, our permanent education zone that offers children and families a fun way to learn more about our current exhibitions. Together, we also hold the annual Rabo Family Day, provide teachers throughout Amsterdam with a free museum pass, and run the exchange programme ‘Samen Kijken /Looking Together’, with partners.

Rabo Family Day 2018 at the Stedelijk

Every year, the Stedelijk and Rabobank Amsterdam hold the Rabo Family Day. A special event giving families and children a chance to experience even more at the Stedelijk. This year’s Rabo Family Day, on Sunday 8 April, families and children will be the guests of honour at a festival for young and old, among the works of art. Exciting things are on the menu: workshops with artists, music, speed tours of the artworks (also for our very youngest guests) and lots more.  Admission and the events are free on 8 April. But please sign up beforehand. You can register online, through our website.

Rabo Lab

The Rabo Lab is the creative drop-in zone where everyone, big and small, can enjoy hands-on art projects on their own or together. The themes of the Lab are ever-changing, so there’s always something new and fun to discover. In 2018, some of the Labs will be inspired by a particular exhibition, others by our permanent collection.

‘Samen Kijken / Looking Together’

The exchange programme ‘Looking Together’ was developed jointly by the Rabobank Amsterdam, Artis, Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The project brings together parents and children from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, to chat about art and culture. Each year, pupils of the Basisschool Crescendo in Amsterdam-Zuidoost and the Willemsparkschool in Amsterdam-Zuid visit one of Amsterdam’s cultural institutes: the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam and Artis.

Free Pass for Teachers

The Rabobank also sponsors a special pass that gives teachers a year’s free admission to the museum. Teachers can apply for the pass through our website. Every year, around 1,000 teachers use the Rabo Pass to visit the Stedelijk to find inspiration and prepare for their class museum visit.
