Today we can finally announce the winners.

Are you among the winners? We will contact you as soon as possible!

1st Prize

The winner of the #LassnigByMe art competition is Silvia Gatti! Congratulations Silvia! Silvia’s work is called ON PLACEBO EFFECT.

Silvia explains she had a strong motivation and reason to participate in this competition:
After a big accident this year, my legs were compromised and so my ability to walk and move. I had to learn again to do so. From zero. The new perceptions I was dealing with daily changes completely my experience and my understanding towards my body and my mind. It was an amazing experience. I decided to record with body scaled drawings this “other“ sensations and to understand the relationship I was building up with them every day. Who Was I? This is me, rolling myself, swimming, walking and running over a paper.

Beatrice von Bormann (curator & jury member art competition):
Silvia Gatti interpreted the concept of body awareness - the central theme of this contest- in its own unique way. After an accident, she had to rediscovered the relation of her mind and body with her art. In her life-sized drawing ‘ON PLACEBO EFFECT’ she used this new body awareness to create an original and interesting artwork.”

You can find more of Silvia Gatti's works on her Instagram account: @Silviagatti_art

ABOUT MARIA LASSNIG

Maria Lassnig is known for her ‘body awareness’ paintings in which she expressed how she experienced her bodily sensations and emotions.

In her self-portraits, she can transform into anything – whether it’s a Godzilla-like creature towering over New York City, a woman with her brains hanging out, or even an animal.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition Maria Lassnig – Ways of Being is the first large survey of the Austrian artist in the Netherlands. Maria Lassnig is internationally regarded as one of the leading women artists of the twentieth and twenty first centuries. Her oeuvre includes paintings, drawing, films and sculptures. An important theme for Maria Lassnig was her 'körperbewusstsein' (body awareness), which she saw as the relationship between your body and the world. In other words, she didn’t paint what she saw but rather portrayed her inner bodily experience.
