RULES AND REGULATIONS

These rules apply to the drawing contest #Lassnigbyme, (hereinafter referred to as: ‘the drawing contest’) of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam established at van Baerlestraat 31, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

1. Participation

Maria Lassnig was very good at painting and drawing her feelings. She called these self-portraits 'body awareness' paintings. Do you draw the butterflies in your stomach, your frustration when you drop your ice cream on the ground, or the happiness you feel riding your bike on a sunny morning? Enter the contest and draw or paint a self-portrait showing how you feel, just like Maria Lassnig.

How to enter the drawing contest #Lassnigbyme:

a. Entrants submit a photo made by him/her/them* to their personal Instagram or Facebook channel (or both)

b. tag @stedelijkmuseum in the comments section (caption)

c. include #Lassnigbyme in the comments section (caption)

2. Contest timeline

The drawing contest opens on June 3, 2019. All entries must be shared no later than July 28, 2019 at 23.59. By sharing a photo of the drawing that meets entry conditions each entrant agrees to these official rules and guarantees that the submission meets the conditions. The drawing contest is determined by the quality of the drawing and the creativity of the maker (entrant) and thus not by chance or luck.

3.   Entrants

The contest is open to everyone, and all age groups. If you are under the age of 16, you can take part in the drawing contest if you have permission from a parent or other legal representative. By taking part in the contest, the legal representative indicates that he/she agrees to the terms of the contest and to the use of personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.

Employees of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (and their housemates/relatives) are not eligible to enter the drawing contest.

4. Submission requirements

Drawings that do not meet the following requirements may be disqualified.

Drawings must be shared in digital format. The photograph of the drawing may be taken with a digital or analogue camera (scans of negatives or printed photos are also permitted). All digital files must be 5 MB or smaller, and submitted as JPEG, JPG, PNG or GIF format. The photo must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (landscape photo) or 1,600 pixels high (portrait photo).

Drawings made one year before the date of the submission deadline, or that have been submitted to a previous contest or published by other media, are not eligible.

Image manipulation, or the addition or removal of certain image elements that alter the content of the drawing, is not permitted. Light image editing is permissible.

The entrant declares he/she/they is the creator of the drawing and, if applicable, hold the portrait rights. If the entrant is not the right-holder of the submitted drawings, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam cannot be held liable.

The entrant gives the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam permission to publish the drawing (a so-called ‘right of use’—see Rule 9).

Pornographic and/or violent imagery will not be accepted. The jury reserves the right to refuse material.

The entries will be viewed according to the criteria listed below under ‘judging’.

The deadline for sharing entries on personal social media channels is July 28, 2019 at 23.59. Entries shared later will not be eligible for the drawing contest.

Each entrant may enter a maximum of five drawings.

Entrants must provide the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam with images without a watermark for publication purposes. A personal signature is allowed.

If the prize is not accepted by the winner, the Stedelijk Museum may or may not give the prize to another entrant, at its own discretion. The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam reserves the right to check the validity and originality of each submission and entrant and to disqualify them when they are not in accordance with these official rules. If the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam fails at any time to maintain its rights, this does not mean that it also renounces its rights.
